Mortality eSports Prepares For EVO 2014

Wednesday, Jul 09 2014  -   Justin Dellario

Mortality eSports, Jeffrey 'Axe' Williamson, and Daniel 'ChuDat' Rodriguez are preparing to participate in the upcoming EVO Championship Series 2014!

This will be the largest Super Smash Bros. Melee event of the Summer, stocked with the toughest competition and an over 9,000 Dollar prize pool to match. The 970 competitor brackets have recently been finalized and are available here. If you are looking for a specific participant, try here.

While current polls and predictions place ChuDat around 17th, we expect to witness a very high level of play from the veteran Ice Climbers pro. From SKTAR 3 to MLG Anaheim and CEO, ChuDat has steadily climbed the ranks, re-gaining his prowess in the professional Smash scene. With recent victories over reigning Smash gods like Armada in Project M and competent rivals like Plup, DEHF, and Pikachad in Melee, ChuDat is all the more motivated to reach the next level.  Axe, on the other hand, is a fan favorite to upset some of the community proclaimed Smash Gods.  He did it at Anaheim and he's preparing to do it again.

We asked ChuDat and Axe where they feel they stand going in to this weekend's competition and the veteran smashers had this to say:

"EVO will be the biggest tournament of the year and I can't wait to compete against the greats of Smash Brothers thanks to Mortality eSports and Team Razer!" I'm really confident about my position in the bracket. It should allow me to reach the final 32 before getting very nervous about my opponent. In addition to the competition, I'm excited to see what Nintendo has planned for EVO since it was just recently announced that Nintendo is sponsoring the event.  - ChuDat

EVO is going to be the tournament of a lifetime. With almost 1000 entrants, this will be the biggest Melee tournament by far. It doesn't scare me though. I have been training extremely hard in preparation, and knowing that AZ and Mortality eSports has my back only drives me to play even harder. The thrill of high level matches makes my heart race and gets me so pumped, and what better place is there to experience that than at EVO? I'm very excited to represent Team Razer as one of my sponsors and show the world what I can do. MLG Anaheim was just a taste of what I have in store for everyone. - Axe

The tournament is set to be an amazing show of skill by veteran and budding smashers. We are ecstatic to see how ChuDat will perform at the largest event he's participated in under Mortality eSports, and wish him the best of luck as he competes against some of the biggest names in the Smash scene.
