Axe departs from Mortality eSports

Thursday, Apr 09 2015  -   Nolan Mercer

Today, we are sad to announce that Jeffrey 'Axe' Williamson has decided to separate from Mortality eSports in order to pursue other opportunities. It's been 9 months since we signed the AZ native to join ChuDat on our Smash Bros. roster and almost as long since we were fortunate enough to watch him compete at EVO 2015 under the MOR |  tag. Axe placed 5th at EVO 2014, a culminating event for his 2014 rise in the Smash rankings. Due to the circumstances under which he earned that placing, it is a moment in time that many of us will never forget. Axe went on to compete in several events around the country, placing well, and ultimately earning his place as the 7th ranked Smasher in the world. If any of Axe's placings this year are indication of what's to come, the future is bright for this Pikachu main.

Axe earned many high placings during his tenure with Mortality, some of which, are listed below:

  • 5th EVO 2014
  • 4th Zenith 2014
  • 2nd Forte 2
  • 1st Smash the Target
  • 7th Paragon 2015
  • 1st Aftershock 2015
  • & Several Others..

Our Director of Operations, Patrick 'OctanePro' Jester had the following to say:

"It's always a sad day to lose a member of the Mortality eSports family.  Yet, Axe is leaving Mortality eSports on good terms, looking to focus his competitive career in a different direction.  Axe has done an outstanding job representing Mortality eSports at recent events and will be missed."

While this comes as a great loss to Mortality, we will continue with our recent exploration of new games, and further our progression. We wish Axe the best of luck in his future endeavors, and will continue to cheer him on.

Check back for some very exciting upcoming announcements of new teams, players, and sponsors.
